New Delhi: In a bid to increase the security, police have identified 121 criminals who were involved in multiple offences in Delhi Metro. A list prepared by the city police also have gangs who were active in Metro and have been arrested for theft cases.
Police sources told Millennium Post that the 'Compendium of Criminals" includes the name of those criminals who have been involved in multiple crimes in Metro and their jurisdiction of Delhi Metro Police.
The 20 pages document include the coloured photographs, criminal histories and the place from where the criminal belong or live.
"The document has been sent to all Delhi Metro Police station to keep a tab on the criminals," said a police official.
Police also investigated the different modus operandi used by criminals and with other stations they also found their more movement in Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate Metro Station.
All the accused who were on the list are the native of Delhi and been involved in petty crimes.
"We have told our police personnel to keep a tab on the criminals who were on the list," said a police official.
Sources claimed that the compendium includes women gang of five members who were arrested in September 2017.
During interrogation, it was found that all the gang members are active in pick-pocketing in Delhi Metro as well as in public transport buses and all accused have involvements in several cases of theft.
In-depth interrogation disclosed that total six cases of pickpocketing have been worked out. Members of the same family who have been involved in the crime were also included in the list. DelhiPolice have nabbed 14 members of one family who were involved in several cases of theft. The accused, residents of Agra, used to operate on Delhi Metro.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Pankaj Singh stated that they have been conducting surprise checking in their jurisdiction to curb crime in Delhi metro.
"We took every step for the prevention of crime," said the DCP.
Recently, Delhi Police have come with the initiative that in a bid to increase security for women and to control petty crimes like theft, police personnel were taking a journey of different stations in Metro in plain clothes.
The police data claimed that more than 500 criminals were arrested involved in crime in Metro whereas more than 10,000 cases of theft have been reported this year in Delhi Metro.
