Three arrested for AAP leader's murder in Gzb

Ghaziabad: Police on Wednesday said they have arrested three persons in connection with the murder case of a 45-year-old Aam Aadmi Party member, Naveen Das, who was found charred to death inside his completely burnt car in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad on late night of October 5.

Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad, said that Das was in a homosexual relationship with the main accused, Tayyab, and forcing him in a live-in relationship. Tayyab resented this and along with his two friends made a plan to rob and murdered Das.

"Upon interrogating the arrested persons, it came to light that deceased and the main accused were in a homosexual relationship with each other from past two years. The main accused plotted the conspiracy to murder him and allegedly got Rs 7 lakh transferred to his bank account from Das's account. Later the accused, along with his two accomplices, sedated him using drug-laced sweets and then burnt him alive inside his car using petrol," said Krishna.

The officer further said that deceased and accused used to organise gay parties in Delhi. "We have recovered Rs five lakh from the accused possession which was transferred from the deceased account," he added.

Police said that the two other accused were Identified as Talib and Samar khan. All the three accused hail from Muradnagar area of Ghaziabad.

Das was found charred to death in Ghaziabad inside his car, which was found abandoned in a secluded spot in Bhopra on the road leading to Loni from Sahibabad, an officer said, adding that the police estimated the fire to have occurred around 2.30 am.
