Street crime: Police chief meets top brass of Eastern Range, reviews patrolling pattern

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Commissioner held a meeting with the police top brass of Eastern Range in which he asked officials to curb street crime. The top cop was informed about the identification of seven hot spots in Delhi-NCR where criminals concentration is high.

Police sources told Millennium Post that the meeting held in East district where the top cop reviewed the street crime in the three districts which come under Eastern Range.

"Take stern action against listed criminals, BCs (bad characters)," CP told officers at the meeting.

"Presentations were made before Police Commissioner by District DCsP regarding their efforts to curb crime including their patrolling pattern and the real-time monitoring of GPS-fitted motorcycles. DCsP also told police chief regarding the mapping of vulnerable crime-prone areas and their efforts to make it crime-free," police said.

At the meeting Special CP (Law and Order) and Joint CP were present.

Identification of seven hot spots in Delhi-NCR:

The Delhi Police Commissioner was apprised about the seven hot spots with high criminals concentration identified by Delhi and Ghaziabad police.

"The police chief was told that after identification of hot spots, a joint team of Delhi and Ghaziabad police conducted raids across the Nand Nagri and Loni area," said police sources adding that another raid was conducted in Saheed Nagar in Ghaziabad on Monday.

An officer said that the CP had applauded this effort of the range.

In a recently held interstate coordination meeting between Shahdara, East, North East and Ghaziabad districts, taken by Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) Alok Kumar, discussions were made regarding the raids in hot spots.

Joint CP Alok Kumar confirmed the news and said that they are conducting raids on the whereabouts of known criminals. "In upcoming days, more raids will be conducted," said Joint CP Kumar.

Sources said that in a recently held crime review meeting in police headquarters, the Commissioner of Police directed district DCsP that the police visibility be enhanced during evening/night hours.

"It should be ensured that the PCR vans, ERVs and motorcycle patrols, besides the regular foot patrolling staff, take maximum rounds of the areas where the incidents of robbery, snatching and burglary are high," police chief told senior officers.

"The senior officers were told the beat staff must be involved in a big way to collect intelligence about active criminals of their beats and jail released criminals. Divisional/beat staff should be held accountable for the illegal activities going on their areas," added sources.
