Special Commissioner (Crime) Taj Hasan moved to NCB on deputation

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Taj Hasan has been appointed to the post of Deputy Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau on deputation for a period of five years. The Appointments' Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment.

51-year-old Hasan, a 1987 batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer, was handling a key assignment in the national Capital as the Special Commissioner (Crime). He was also handed over the charge of chief spokesperson of Delhi Police. Hasan has earlier served as the chief of the traffic department of Delhi Police and Joint Commissioner of security unit among other important positions.

With this move, speculations run high as to who would be chosen for the crucial Special Commissioner (Crime) post. There are senior officers of the rank of Special Commissioners who match the criterion but it remains to be seen who is given the responsibility finally. Amongst the top runners for the post are Special Commissioner (Law and Order) SBK Singh, a 1988 batch IPS officer, Special Commissioner Sanjay Beniwal, 1989 batch IPS officer, who is presently Special CP (Operations). Another name who could be given the responsibility is a 1989 batch IPS officer R S Krishnia. Presently Krishnia is holding the position of Special Commissioner (Armed Police and Recruitment).
