GURUGRAM: With the revelation of the report of a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), it has now become clear the seven-year –old Pradhyuman Thakur could have been alive if his school had proper security systems in place.
Keeping with the deadline, the report was submitted to the office of Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh late Sunday night.
Singh admitted that there were various glaring security lapses at the school, which had resulted in a major tragedy on Friday.
Sharing contents of the report with the media, he said that the major points of deficiencies included common toilet for staff employees and students, no maintenance of proper verification records, lack of CCTV cameras in several locations and lack of a boundary wall after a distance of 200 metres.
Additionally, senior public officials also pointed that the school was functioning with an expired fire extinguishing system and had not built proper ramps for students.
"The report will now be sent to the Haryana school education management, following which a notice will be issued to the school management. Provisions like taking over the school management and imposing a heavy fine on the authorities are being explored," said Singh.
Taking note of the growing anger of parents, the District Commissioner said, "We have formed a committee that will survey the security arrangements in all of the private schools of the city within two weeks."
