Since 2017, over 300 personal IDs used for touting activities blocked

New Delhi: Since 2017, more than 300 personal user IDs which were being used to carry out touting activities were blocked, claimed the data of Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The security force have also recovered live tickets costing several lakhs of rupees.

The RPF data (West) accessed by Millennium Post claimed that in the year 2017, they found 110 ID's and in 2018, as many as 245 ID's were found and later blocked.

"In several cases, we have found that the touts were running several id's and later, they were blocked," an RPF official said.

Explaining more about further investigation, an RPF officer stated that whenever touts get caught by the RPF, they inform the concerned agency to block these ID's and also, if any agent found involved in illegal activity, they ask the agency to blacklist them.

Till 2018, the RPF has registered 68 cases against touting and also recovered around 530 live tickets which were prepared for the future

journey.

"The cost of live tickets were over Rs 11 lakh," claimed an official. RPF has examined minutely various modus operandi being used by touting element to procure and sell e-tickets unauthorisedly through personal user

ids.

In November last year, the team led by ASC (NDLS) Harish Singh arrested one person from Kirti Nagar and more than 50 live tickets were recovered costing more than Rs 1.63 lakh.

"The investigation revealed that as many as 2,205 e-tickets were booked from more than 10 personal user IDs," added an official.

Many organised gangs of touts are involved in the black-marketing of tickets.

Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Rajiv Kumar stated that after receiving information about any personal user IDs which are being used to book mass tickets, they raid that place and bust illegal activity.

"Because of illegal activity, the genuine passengers do not get tickets. There are several software's help touts to excess website in a very speedy manner and then they can book multiple Tatkal tickets within seconds," added Kumar.
