Siliguri: Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) has undertaken different projects to bring about developement in Siliguri and Jalpaiguri.
The areas under SJDA will be fully utilised for development purposes.
Near about Rs 2,000 crore will be invested to beautify the North Bengal Tea Park.
"For the first time in India, there is a rail line connection in an industrial area like the tea park for transporting different commodities from one place to another. This is an achievement to us," Sourav Chakraborty, SJDA, chairman said.
With the approved authorization of the CMO, many business enterprises are working with SJDA in different development projects.
State Fisheries Department has taken several measures to augment fish production in North Bengal.
An agreement will be signed between SJDA and the Fisheries department before the Durga Puja, where SJDA will lease out a cold storage facility to them so that they can sell fishes, especially Hilsha in Siliguri.
Earlier, a net amount of Rs 8 lakh was spent on introducing fishlings in government ponds and rivers like Teesta, Torsha, Kaljani, Karla, Jaldhaka and a few more.
"Fish cultivation in Bengal is higher compared to other cities at present, hence, we are trying to develop it not only for a strong economy but also for the public,"
stated Chakraborty.
"We want to lease out the land or sign agreements with the enterprises or industries, who will be interested in working with us and help us in further development," says Chakraborty.
Recently, a market complex will come up in Paribahan Nagar and Champasari area.
Rajbari Dighi in Jalpaiguri is being given special attention as it attracts a lot of tourists.
Besides that, the government is planning to construct a community hall, along with a market complex, in a commercial plot of land nearly about 6-acre. It may be mentioned that around Rs 19 crore will be invested in the Green City Mission in Siliguri.
The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) will take care of the different water projects in Siliguri.
Works for a new water project will start at Kumlai Tea Estate where the supply of water will be done with the help of a solar panel and without any electric support.
