Ghaziabad: A police post-in-charge of Bathla police station under Loni was suspended by Ghaziabad SSP over laxity in his duties after a dairy owner was robbed of Rs 1 lakh 86 thousand on Tuesday.

Senior police officials said that the cop remained off the duty without informing his seniors while the crime rate under his jurisdiction was at high in past few months.

According to police, the 45-year-old sub-inspector has been posted in Ghaziabad district from last one year.

Neeraj Jadaun, Superintendent of Police (rural) told Millennium Post that the Sub-inspector has been suspended for his unauthorised absence and lapses in investigations in almost every case.

"The incident came to light when a boxer from Loni area was attacked by unidentified assailants and victim's family members have staged a protest questioning role of police. It was revealed that at the time of incident, the sub-inspector was in Baghpat without informing his seniors or taking permission."

"Another incident occurred on May 28 when a dairy owner was robbed with cash in Bathla area. At that time also the sub-inspector was in Meerut for his personal reasons without taking any permission while no information of his absence was given to any of his senior police officers," said Jadaun.

The officer further said that an internal enquiry has been set up into the matter.

"The cop has been suspended for indefinite time period while we are investigating whether he remained careless throughout his official tenure. Appropriate actions will be followed once the investigations are completed," added Jadaun.
