Security of Kashmiri students heightened in Capital: Police

New Delhi: After the reports of alleged harassment of Kashmiris in other states following the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, the Delhi Police had heightened the security all across the national Capital including the minority-dominated areas.

Meanwhile, people at large gathered at India Gate to pay tribute to the CRPF personnel who lost their lives in Pulwama attack.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Madhur Verma stated that security has been heightened in Delhi.

"For us, all students are equal. We will give adequate security to everyone," said DCP New Delhi.

Later, DCP Verma tweeted that "Security has been strengthened all across the National Capital including minority-dominated areas. Visibility of police personnel has been increased. We'll ensure the safety and security of every citizen including Kashmiri inhabitants and students living in Delhi."

On Sunday, Delhi Police detained a Kashmiri resident for raising anti-national slogan. "His name is Abid Hussain and raised slogan at Jantar Mantar area. A joint interrogation is going on," said DCP Verma.

According to the reports, he was also beaten up by the people at Jantar Mantar and later, rescued by police.

Hundreds of people from different walks of life gathered at India Gate and Jantar Mantar on Sunday to hold candle light marches to express solidarity with the families of the CRPF Jawans killed in the Pulwama terror attack. As the protests continued for the third day on Sunday, police enhanced security in the national Capital with special deployments in the protest areas.

Alumni Association of JNU (AAJ) condemns the barbaric terror attack on February 14, 2019 (Thursday) on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, which took away 42 jawans' lives in the strongest possible words.

The AAJ EC strongly condemned this dastardly act of violence and termed it as 'an attack on Indian sovereignty, democracy and crime against humanity.'

Doctors from the country premier hospitals also take the initiative to help the soldiers.

"I pledge to giver preference to our soldiers and their associated family member, that whenever, whereever, get the chance to serve them under, who are serving and sometimes even sacrificing their lives for us," said Dr Vijay Gujjar, Assitant professor, AIIMS. Meanwhile, different student unions have also condemned

barbaric act.
