New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) Mayor Sunita Kangra will lead a two-day "People Movement" from July 17 to spread awareness about vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.
The SDMC said the campaign will focus on making serious efforts to involve citizens to make them active stakeholders in the drive to prevent and effectively manage the spread of these diseases.

Meetings with RWAs, schoolchildren and religious institutions will be held to sensitise residents about their role and responsibility in prevention and control of mosquito breeding and motivate them to bring behavioural change.
Cleanliness drives will be launched with a view to eliminating mosquito breeding at the source. Meanwhile, the SDMC has also decided to build a Hindu adult burial ground at Sector 24, Dwarka, for the Lingayat Community residing in Delhi.
Around 1,000 people of this community live in Dwarka and according to their customs, they are required to bury their dead.
