A Gurdwara in South East Delhi was burgled on Monday night. The accused has not only decamped with cash and jewellery but also smashed the CCTV cameras installed in the Gurdawara to avoid detection.
The incident was reported from Ambedkarnagar Gurdwara at around 1:30 am on Monday when a burglar with a bag entered the Gurdwara premises after he cut pen the locked gate in less than a minute.
The burglar smashed or twisted some of the CCTV cameras before robbing the religious place of its valuables.
Following this, the crook broke open two almirahs and stole around 2 lakh cash along with some gold and silver. The accused then walked away with the DVR and the LED installed for the CCTV cameras. However, the movement of the notorious burglar was recorded by the CCTV camera.
The Gurdwara committee members have expressed their resentment and demanded immediate police action . Also, they have asked the Delhi Police to safeguard the sacred place in future.
The cops have registered a FIR and have rounded up several criminals with the similar modus operandi in the area.
"We have registered a FIR in the incident and are investigating," said a top cop.
