New Delhi: The purse of Inspector-General's (IG) wife was stolen in Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station on the intervening night of April 25/26. Police have started their investigation in the
case.
Police identified the victim as Madhuri Singh who said that her husband is posted with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as Inspector General.
In her complaint, the woman told Delhi Police that around 5.35 AM she was travelling by train.
"I was travelling from Banda railway station and reached the platform number 6 in Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station," the complainant told the police.
She further told the investigating agency that when she was going through escalator and some unknown person stole her handbag.
"There was a crowd in the escalator when the incident took place," she added. The victim is the resident of Chanakyapuri area.
Inside the purse, there was cash around Rs 8,000 all in 2000 denominations.
Police said that they have registered a case under section 379 (Punishment for theft) in GRP of Hazrat
Nizamuddin.
The Delhi Police have started the investigation in the case. CCTV of the nearby area will be scan.
