New Delhi: Following the recent incident when a man's concealed firearm went off accidentally inside Starbucks coffee shop in Connaught Place, Delhi Police on Saturday has issued an advisory to all eateries, pubs, and cafes in the area urging them to take steps to ensure no customer enters their premises with concealed weapons.
Officials said that the advisory has been issued by the Connaught Place police station to avoid unfortunate mishaps such as the one that occurred on last Thursday.
The advisory, signed by the Station House Officer at CP station, has urged all establishments in the area to "prominently display" a notification that is supposed to read as follows: "All weapons including concealed firearms are prohibited." Commenting on the advisory, DCP Madhur Verma stressed the importance of establishments following this advisory, in order to ensure that there is no way any citizen is harmed accidentally or otherwise. The advisory further stated that establishments in the area need to do more than just displaying a sign and that staff in these establishments should also keep an eye out.
"Apart from that, security staff of your establishment should be briefed to have a close watch on such suspects to prevent such an incident," it read.
The advisory stated that "the security of human life and property is our main concern and of utmost importance," thus asking all establishments to give utmost importance to the
issue.
