The Delhi Police arrested a man from Sangam Vihar for his alleged involvement in theft of motorcycle on Saturday.
During investigation, it came to light that the accused Imran Khan has five children, three of whom are studying in a boarding school. Imran, who used to work as a plumber, reportedly turned an expert motorcycle thief so as to pay his children's boarding school fees.
Imran, a resident of Sangam Vihar, used to steal bikes from different parts of South East district. He followed a unique approach to do so, in which he used a master key. Using this key, Imran would unlock the motorcycles in a matter of a few seconds.
After he would get away with the bikes, he would fix his own number plate on the bike to avoid getting caught by police during checking.
Though Imran was forced to turn to robbery for a genuine cause, what is to be noted is that Imran – who is not an expert thief – had devised an innovative modus operandi that could put even professional motorcycle thieves to shame.
"You would be surprised to know that Imran used to park the vehicle at common places like parks, hospitals and other busy places. He sold spare parts like tyres, headlight and other motorcycle parts that would be in demand," said DCP South East, Romil Baniya.
Along with the master key that the accused used, the cops have also recovered nine motorcycles from his possession.
