The Haryana education minister Rambilas Sharma on Monday in a stern warning to Haryana Private Schools said that the government will not hesitate in taking action against these schools that are charging exorbitant fees.
The Minister also demanded more transparency in the functioning of the private schools. He reiterated the commitment of the State Government towards ensuring quality to economically weaker section students in the state.
The statement of the minister comes at a time when there are widespread protests by the parents against exorbitant fee hike by some of the private schools in the city.
Besides complaining to the state machinery, most of the parents have also forwarded their complaints to the Prime Minister Office (PMO).
"It is good that the minister has sent a warning to the private schools. However, warnings like these have not yielded to positive results in the past.
Most of the private schools continue to exploit parents by charging various components of schools fees which is amounting in lakhs of rupees per students," said Jagvir Yadav, one such parent.
He also stated that most of the parents have been carrying out their struggle against private schools for more than two months.
"Even though we have been provided assurances as of now there has been no action that has been initiated against such private schools," added Yadav.
The parents of Gurugram on numerous occasions have come on streets protesting against the hefty fee hike by the private schools.
Besides organising a protest march to the mini secretariat, the parents have also held a protest at Jantar- Mantar in Delhi.
