The Delhi Police have arrested an accused wanted in a rape case who had also escaped from Nangloi police station located in Outer Delhi.

The accused, Lal Singh was arrested from Gurugram on March 11.

According to police, Singh was arrested on June 28 after the complainant in the case reported that his minor daughter was kidnapped and raped by the accused.

The local police managed to trace the girl and produced her before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), stating that she had met the accused at her relative's house in Nooh, Haryana.

"She met the accused outside the relative's house and he offered her a drink spiked with sedatives.

She started feeling dizzy and then the accused took her to several places in Haryana and UP and raped her on several occasions," said a senior police official privy to the investigation.

The accused was eventually arrested on June 28 and was lodged inside the Nangloi lock-up.

However, the following day, Singh broke the iron bars of the lockup and escaped.

The local police conducted several raids in the vicinity and later raided some places in Nangloi.

A police official said: "We had also announced a reward of Rs 25, 000 for his capture. Later, we also constituted a team and raided several locations in Mewat, UP and Rajasthan."

"We made a breakthrough on March 11 when we received a tip off from a local source informing us about his movements in Gurugram. He was arrested upon identification," the official added.

The police will also look into his accomplices who might have helped him to escape to Gurugram.

"We will also look into various hideouts used by the accused. Adequate measures have been taken to make that he does not break out of jail again," the official added.
