New Delhi: The Northern Railways headquarters on Monday saw General Manager TP Singh inaugurate the e-Office system, designed by RailTel, with the intent to increase the efficiency of internal office filing systems through cloud-based technology that digitizes day-to-day manual filing works.

Speaking at the inauguration of the office filing software, Singh said that the implementation of this filing system will not only bring transparency in the way that officials of Northern Railways do their filing but will also promote a green way by eliminating the use of paper for these purposes.

As far as the product's implementation is concerned, RailTel's CMD Puneet Chawla said that under Phase-I of the project, 50,000 officials are expected to be using the software and that currently, more than 12,000 officials are already using it. The product is built as a single reusable system by bringing together independent functions and systems under a single framework to enhance transparency, increase accountability and transform the government work culture and ethics.

Singh added, "RailTel has implemented e-Office in NR HQ and Ambala Division in a very short time. This will help us in faster disposal of files and bring greater efficiency and transparency."
