NEW DELHI: The students who were not active in the class have now become the most popular one after the initiation of happiness curriculum in the schools, exclaimed the principals of various government schools in a conversation with the Millennium Post. In a fact check of the happiness curriculum, the Millennium Post found a completely different picture where the students were actively participating in various activities like dance, meditation, and others.
"The students are very happy and they are doing well. What I have witnessed that the students who were not interested in studies they are coming forward and taking the lead. It is something only teachers will understand," said Ameeta Gandhi, HOS of Aya Nagar SKV for girls. She also added that all the teachers in the schools are involved in this training. Gandhi said that the teacher are enjoying this training process too. "I think such initiative should continue and the students are responding to this training and I would want the government to continue the programme throughout the year," she said.
Adding to her statement, Gomti Devi, HOS of a government school in East Delhi said, "Here our motto is taking out the students from the pressure of studies. Look at these students they are so happy indeed and playing. I think they never thought that their teachers will encourage them in any activity except studies and that's why they are so happy."
A class 4 student Rupesh Singh said, "Today we have a meditation class in the morning and then we have sung English songs. I love to come to the school because now I can play a lot and the teachers are not asking us to study anything really."
The parents of the students also explained that their children have somehow become very active to come to schools. "My daughter is not an early riser and she also cried every day before coming to school. But now she has a lot of things to do in school and I think that's why every morning she just gets up whenever I call her. I don't know if it is about the curriculum but it's something different. Now she has a lot of things to talk about with me which are not about her academics so I like to talk. I am a single mother and I used to get bored to listen to same stories of academics but she talks about games and how she played what she did," said a mother of a kid.
Terming it a "historic" occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had launched the "Happiness Curriculum" for students of nursery to Class 8 in government schools on July 2. The curriculum was launched in the presence of the Dalai Lama.
