Noida: The Raahgiri Program in Noida is gaining popularity every week as number of people participating in the event is increasing surprisingly. Officials of Noida authority said that the recent Raahgiri programme organised in sector 137 of Noida on Sunday, over 30, 000 people participated in the program.
Noida authority officials and District administration are utilising the programme to create awareness among the people and appealed them towards maximum voting on the polling day in upcoming lok sabha elections on April 11.
"The Raahgiri programme, this weekend, broke all the previous records and recorded a huge participation of over 30, 000 people from various high rise societies in the vicinity. We have utilised the programme to create awareness among the people for maximum voting in the upcoming lok sabha elections while a detailed demonstration on the functioning of VVPAT machines was also given to the people," said Rajiv Tyagi, General Manager, Noida authority. As per, Sumit Mishra, a resident of Lotus 3c society, the event has been the planned keeping the requirements of senior citizens, men and women, youngsters and kids in mind.
"It was quite amazing to see such a large number of people participating in a event. Apart from several other activities to promote health and safe environment, people were made to take oath to vote for the upcoming lok sabha elections on April 11," said Mishra
Meanwhile people who joined the event, found it as an opportunity to make their weekend special by taking part in various activities including Zumba, Aerobics and Yoga.
Raahgiri, a programme organised by Noida Authority which aims to help citizens reclaim their street. At Raahgiri nearly 5 km of street is blocked for vehicular movement and vehicles are prohibited from entering the blocked streets.
People are only allowed to walk and bring their roller skates, skate boards and prams with infants. The event is based on Ciclovia which is held in Bogota, Columbia.
