Noida: Ghaziabad special CBI court on Saturday awarded the death sentence to one of the two key accused of Nithari serial murder case in connection with murder and attempt to rape case with a 10-years-old girl. The order came on the 11th out of 16 murder cases filed by the CBI against the accused.
While noting the incident to be 'inhuman and rarest of rare', the court's special judge Amit Vir Singh awarded death sentence to Surendra Koli in the case while Maninder Singh Pandher has been acquitted in the same case.
As per reports, the incident occurred on January 21, 2005, when the 10-year-old victim had gone to a nearby tailor shop but she didn't return home. As when her family failed to trace her, they informed police and a missing report was registered on June 23, 2005.
Police launched an investigation into the case and found that the girl was lured inside the house while she was going to the tailor shop. The accused then forced himself over her and tried to rape her. When he failed, he strangled her to death with a scarf and cooked the flesh from her chest to eat. He then dumped the body parts inside the ground at the lawn situated behind the house.
Police had arrested Pandher along with his servant Surendra Koli in connection with the case on December 19, 2006.
Amid several arguments from the lawyers of both the parties, the prosecution lawyer, J P Sharma argued that the accused kidnapped, raped and murdered the women and children and also tried to tamper the evidence by dumping the skulls and clothes behind the house.
"Hearing the 11th case on Saturday the court agreed that this was inhuman and the rarest of the rare case. The court held Surendra Koli guilty of the charge under Sections, 364(kidnapping), 376, 511 (attempt to rape), 302 (punishment for murder), 201 (causing the disappearance of evidence or false information) of the Indian Penal Code. A penalty of Rs 1 lakhs 20 thousand has also been imposed on him" said J.P Sharma, prosecution lawyer.
Koli has been found guilty in 11 cases out of which he received the death sentence in all 11 of them.
