NGO comes to rescue of seven poor Tihar prisoners, pays their bail bond

New Delhi: In a noble endeavour, an NGO came forward to help seven financially disadvantaged convicts lodged in Tihar jail, who were granted bail but could not be released due to their inability to produce sureties or pay fine.
With the intervention of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, the seven prisioners were released from prison on Friday.
The NGO approached the Prison Administration and came forward to cooperate on humanitarian ground and shown their keenness to deposit the fine of the convicts, so as to ensure their immediately release.
Accordingly, a function was organised at jail no. 2 at Tihar on Friday, where Tihar authorities and representatives from the NGO were present.
The total fine amount of fine Rs 74,000 was deposited on behalf of the convicts and they were immediately released.
Director General (Prisons) Ajay Kashyap expressed his gratitude to the NGO for its generosity and urged it to continue its support for such noble cause in the future as well.
Mahmood A Madani, general secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, assured that the organisation will remain in touch with the convicts to help in their rehabilitation and re-integration into the society.
