In an unfortunate incident, a cab driver was charred to death when he got trapped inside his car, which caught fire in North-east Delhi's Nand Nagri area on Tuesday night.

The deceased, identified as one Sachin who was in his late 20s, got trapped in an Indigo car and according to eyewitnesses, was unable to leave the vehicle when it caught fire. Though police have ruled out any foul play in the incident, they are investigating the case.

According to the cops, they had received a call on Tuesday night around 10.30 pm. "A passer-by had informed us that a man was trapped inside an Indigo car, which was on fire. We immediately sent a team who rushed to the spot and reached the area within five minutes," said a senior police official.

The police had reached Mandoli main market where they spotted the burning car. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) were also roped in; however, they were unable to save the victim.

"By the time we had arrived, the victim was charred to death. We managed to douse the fire and recovered his charred body," said a DFS official.
The police had investigated the case and some eyewitnesses were questioned, who reportedly told the police that Sachin had parked the car at his usual spot and had gone inside the car for a few minutes.

Later, when the fire broke out in the car, Sachin tried to get out. However, he was unable to open the door and struggled until he was incinerated by the fire.

The police have ruled out any foul play into the incident and have claimed that prima facie investigation reveals that he was unable to take off his seat belt and struggled to relive himself, and was too late.

The probe is still under way as forensic experts are taking stock of the crime scene to ascertain what went wrong.
