DCW, cops rescue 2 domestic workers being sexually abused by their owners

 Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) along with J V Kapil, Sub Divisional Magistrate (Dwarka), police, NGOs and the Labour department came to the rescue of two domestic workers who alleged sexual harassment by their respective owners. 

The girls, who were from West Bengal and worked as domestic workers in two separate houses in Vikaspuri, were rescued on Monday evening.
Sixteen-year-old Kajal and Deepa (names changed), who is 18, were sold by a placement agent to the accused persons.

After the information about the two girls being sexually abused was brought up by an NGO in front of the DCW, it swung into action and along with the SDM and police, rescued the two helpless teenagers. Kajal in her statement alleged that she had joined work in January. Since then, she was sexually abused by the owner of the house who is a 64-year-old retired civil engineer. 

Whereas, Deepa's statement says she was working in Vikaspuri since last year October. She was promised a sum of Rs 5,000 as monthly remuneration which has not been paid to her till date. Also that she was physically abused on a regular basis and not even permitted to communicate with her family. Two separate FIRs have been registered at Vikaspuri police station and the owner of the placement agency is still on the run.

Meanwhile, DCW has been rendering constant support to women and children of the city by saving them from various crimes including sexual abuse, harassment, child labour, and the like. 

Delhi Commission for Women has been working for the welfare and safety of women and also it's helpline 181 is a constant connect between DCW and the victims of such incidents.
