After the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) relentlessly pursued the Delhi government and its agencies to provide employment to acid attack victims, Chief Justice of Delhi high court and Patron-in-Chief of Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), G. Rohini has ordered creation of posts of Lower Division Clerks in DSLSA to appoint these victims.
Lately, a letter to the Deputy Secretary, Services Department, GNCT of Delhi was issued by Dharmesh Sharma, Member Secretary, DSLSA asking for an updated list of the acid attack victims so as to enable the authority for their rehabilitation by way of employment.
In return, DCW Chief, Swati Maliwal wrote to Dharmesh Sharma expressing heartfelt gratitude on the behalf of the Commission for the efforts of DSLSA in compensating and rehabilitating survivors of acid attacks.
Maliwal in the letter stated: "The Commission is deeply heartened to learn about the recent decision of the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Delhi High Court to provide jobs to survivors of acid attack in DSLSA."
"This decision is exemplary and will go a long way in rehabilitating survivors of acid attack which is truly one of the worst forms of violence," she added in the letter.
DCW has submitted the data including 32 female and 5 male victims of acid attack to DSLSA and has also written to Delhi Police to seek an updated list of these victims in Delhi.
Delhi Commission for Women's initiative along with Delhi State Legal Services Authority's effort to help the acid attack survivors get a living has turned out to be a blessing for them. The survivors will now be provided jobs by the government in order to help the survivors.
