A fake doctor, who was checking patients and offering them medical advice outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences was caught by the hospital staff and handed over to the police. The accused identified as Ritaj Tripathi, was later arrested by the police and is said to have been making money by duping patients. According to police, they had received information about the case on Friday, that the hospital staff had caught Tripathi outside the emergency ward of the hospital premises. "We had found that the accused was offering treatment to many patients and when the hospital got suspicious, they caught hold of him," said a senior police official.

Tripathi, would visit the hospital premises with a stethoscope around his neck. According to a hospital staff: "He was roaming around the emergency ward and checking up on the patients. He had approached one such patient and had offered him admission in the emergency ward. We immediately stopped him and inquired about his credentials when we found that he was posing as a doctor from our hospital." The police had arrested the accused after an FIR was registered at Hauz Khas police station. During his questioning, it was found that he was a yoga graduate from Moraji Desai National Institute of Yoga. "He had initially told us that he was a doctor, later it was found that he was a yoga practitioner. We are questioning him to find out if he had duped several other patients in the past," the official added. The hospital staff has, however, told the police that he was spotted several times at the hospital and would bring in patients and get them admitted. They have alleged that he had duped the patients of their money by getting them admitted to the hospital.
