A four-month-old baby girl was found abandoned in a jungle behind a temple in South-east Delhi's Pul Prahladpur area. The temple staff took the baby girl to the hospital after alerting the cops. The baby girl was wrapped in a blanket and was wearing sweaters when she was discovered by the locals. The cops have arrested a man and a woman in this connection.

The incident was reported on Friday night when someone left the baby behind a temple. No one in the area is aware about who left the infant in this cold. When locals heard the baby crying, they took her to the hospital and informed the police. Later, the cops arrested a couple Irshad Ali and his wife Mobina Khatoon for abandoning the baby.

"This is the second marriage of Mobina and the daughter is from her first husband who abandoned Mobina. Irshad was annoyed by the cries of then infant and hence she abandoned her," said DCP South-east Romil Baniya. It is also learnt that Irshad also threatened to kill her if she cried. The baby girl was named 'Dakshina' by the Pul Prahladpur police staff after the cops developed affection for the baby girl. The cops will now hand over the girl to the CWC and is also looking for an NGO to take proper care of the baby.
