'Tattooed girl's' murder a mystery for cops, honour killing suspected

Two days after the dead body of a 22-year-old girl was found in South-east Delhi behind Holy Family Hospital, no one turned up to file a missing complaint that matched the description, arising suspicions that it could also be a case of honour killing. The cops have pasted around 3,000 posters giving the description of the girl that mentions specific details about the deceased.

The Delhi Police are also verifying missing complaints of girls of similar descriptions but have failed to make any substantial headway. Now, the cops have appealed to the general public to identify the girl through the posters. The Delhi Police say that the girl was of a wheatish complexion and was wearing a black jeans and a black jacket. She was wearing a green shirt and cloth shoes.

Had a locket around her neck that has 'R' inscribed on it. The girl also has two rings on one of her fingers and one in a finger of her right hand.

The girl has a 'Rudraksh mala' on her left hand and has an 'Om' tattooed on her right wrist. The girl has injury marks on her neck that indicates initially towards strangulation.

The fact that no one has turned up with the missing complaint of the girl in the police stations is arising suspicions that someone known to the girl might have murdered her and dumped the body behind Holy Family Hospital. Sources say that the possibility of honour killing cannot be ruled out. The cops are also going door-to-door in the area to find any clue that could help the cops identify the girl. "We have not yet been able to identify the dead body. We are working on it. No one till now has approached the police stations to file a missing report of this description," said a senior police officer.

POINTS TO PONDER

  1. Honour Killing: Since no one till now has come up for filing a missing complaint, sources say that even an honour killing angle cannot be ruled out.
  2. The girl is not from Delhi: One possible reason could also be that the murdered girl is from outside Delhi and was working in Delhi. The girl's parents might not be aware of the tragedy or might have filed a missing complaint in some other state.
  3. Jewellery on body shows murder motive was not robbery: Someone known to the girl might have murdered her. This theory is supported by the fact that the girl's body has jewellery on her body and the purpose of murder was not loot or robbery.
  4. Face not disfigured: The fact that the murderer has not disfigured the face of the victim also signifies that may the accused had soft corner for the girl and had murdered the girl somewhere else and later dumped the body at New Friends Colony.
