Despite elaborate security arrangements and traffic diversions that have been made for smooth passage of the Republic Day parade, people were seen confused about routes and Metro timings.
Some people were seen stuck up at Mandi House Metro stations since DMRC decided to close operations at the ITO station as well due to the parade route.
Huge crowd was seen asking the CISF security personnels why ITO has been closed and what is the alternative if at all they want to watch the parade.
Earlier, the Delhi Police advisory said that entry and exit at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations would be closed till 12.30 pm on January 26 and also at Race Cource and Patel Chowk stations. However, closing the ITO Metro station caught the commuters by surprise.
"I was not told that ITO would be closed. Now, I am stranded at Mandi House," said Arvind who wanted to go to ITO.
Also, a huge crowd turned up to watch the Republic Day parade but many had to return without a glimpse.
"It was heavily crowded. I had small children with me so I could not make my way inside. It's awful to return without watching the parade despite having a VIP pass," said Ravi, who came to see the parade with his wife and two kids.
