Speeding volvo hit by truck, 19 injured

In a major accident in Delhi Cantonment area of South-west Delhi, 19 passengers were injured, two of them seriously; when their speeding volvo bus was hit by another speeding truck at the red light at 2 am on Tuesday. The injured were shifted to AIIMS Trauma Center and Deen Dayal Upadhaya hospital. Police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving.

The accident happened when the Volvo bus ferrying wedding guests who were returning from a banquet hall from Mayapuri was hit by a speeding truck. The impact of the collision was so powerful that the heavy Volvo bus turned turtle injuring the passengers inside. Soon, a passer-by made a PCR call and the cops reached the accident site. The cops took out the injured with the help of the people gathered there. There were 19 passengers in the bus. 

"Two ladies from the bridegroom's family have sustained serious injuries but they are out of danger. The rest have also suffered injuries. Both the bus driver and the truck driver have fled the spot and we are looking for them," said a senior police officer.

The eyewitnesses have said that both the bus and the truck were at a high speed when the accident occurred. The police said that they might also book the bus driver along with the truck driver for rash and negligent driving.
