After several complaints of open dumping of waste in the residential as well as the commercial areas of the city, the Noida authority seems to be awakening. In the move to revamp the blemishing title of "Green Noida Clean Noida", the Noida authority has come up with a model of eco-friendly dumping ground in Sector-34 Noida.

The dumping areas will be covered from three sides with green tarpaulin while one side will be left open to let the garbage carrying vehicles enter into it. The authority claims that, the dumping ground will not irritate the passers-by with any foul smell.

"A model of eco-friendly garbage dumping ground has been set up in Sector 34 on a trial basis. If the project proves to be successful, all the garbage dumping grounds in the city will be turned to eco-friendly," said a Noida authority official.

With the residents of Noida complaining about the unscientific manner of waste dumping, posing a threat of infection and diseases, Deepak Agarwal, CEO, Noida Authority, took a drive against the open dumping of waste soon after he took charge as the CEO of Noida authority.

The authority has put into place various mechanisms to deal with the garbage problems out of which the newly introduced eco-friendly dumping ground seems to be an impressive move.

Talking about the salient features of the project, the dumping ground will not be visible from outside nor will it release any smell out of it. Molasses will be sprinkled over the garbage to bar it from spreading the odour.

The area will be covered on three sides while one side will have a rolling gate to let the garbage vehicle enter it. The garbage carrying vehicles will also covered to avoid litter on roads while carrying it to the dumping ground.  The dumping area will also prevent the entry of cattle and other small animals which will prevent them from eating harmful polythene bags, which even lead to death of such animals.
