Missing kids data should be regularly updated: DMPU in-charges told

New Delhi: The in-charges (ICs) of District Missing Persons Unit (DMPU) were directed by senior officers to regularly update missing and abandoned children's data on Zipnet and also sent information to Missing Person Squad (MPS) in Kotwali.

The ICs were directed to match the data of missing children with the help of Face Recognition System (FRS).

Sources said that on checking record, it has been found that in some cases in which abandoned children were found, Investigating Officer (IO) did not upload the information on Zipnet and also not informed MPS Kotwali due to which probable match of the missing child is not

made.

All ICs have been directed to ensure that each entry of abandoned child is updated on Zipnet and information should be sent to

MPS.

"ICs were further told that they will match the missing children/persons' record with the data of unidentified bodies found and if matched, an inspector rank official should be informed immediately," sources said.

During the meeting, DMPU in-charges of two districts raised problems of some police station related to updating the record on Zipnet.

"It has also come to notice that five police stations in four districts are not updating the record on Zipnet and Track The Missing Child portal

(TTMC).

All ICs, in the meeting, were told to ensure that complete information of the missing person, UIDB is updated on Zipnet and TTMC immediately along with the clear photograph," sources further said.

The ICs were further briefed about the revised Standing Order number 252/2019 and they have been directed to follow up the direction as per revised Standing Order.

According to Delhi Police annual report of 2018, analysis of reasons behind missing children reveals that in most of cases, children go missing due to reasons like being scolded by parents at home, academic pressure, losing their way, elopement.
