New Delhi: Amid reports of huge security lapse in Gurugram's Ryan International School, security measure in Delhi's Tagore Public School is also under scanner. The police, a couple of days after rape of a minor girl inside the school premises, have so far found negligence from the side of the school as sources claimed that during questioning of the school staffs. they alleged that security measures like CCTV cameras were not present in the school.
Police sources told Millennium Post that on Sunday, they have questioned the staff of the school where they found that they have not done the verification of their peon and also they did not install CCTV in the important places.
"School staffs told us that they were in progress on installing the cameras but before that the incident took place," said a police source.
Police sources further claimed that so far they have not found any past criminal record of the accused but they are probing him. Police might construct a sequence of the event of the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) has said that the case was being probed from all angles.
A day after Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik has asked all the Deputy Commissioner of Police to ensure that schools in their areas have adequate security measures in place in all the districts, police have started to meet the school authorities, parents and small children and are briefing them about the measures.
In south Delhi, police have been visiting the school earlier where they have been meeting the children and teaching them about good touch and bad touch.
"We have been checking the security arrangements in the school regularly and our police personnel regularly meeting children to know about their safety," said a police official. Police sources claimed that not only private school but the police will also visit government schools and tell them about the security measures which should be taken in the school.
Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik has directed district DCPs to contact and pursue with the school authorities in their respective areas to enhance the security of children in schools with following advice.
"Get the security and safety audit done on their premises and follow the security related advice for the safety of school children.Install CCTV Cameras at all vulnerable areas and points on the school premises.
According to police, they must get the police verification done for the staff employed especially bus drivers, conductors, peon and other support staff. They should employ supporting staff from authorized agencies and keep proper records.
The family members of the victim had also protested in front of the school. According to them they did not want any other child to face the trauma which they have been going through.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) have also taken cognizance on the report in which the victim's father said that they were not properly treated by the hospital who later referred the girl to other hospital and also did not provide them with the ambulance after which the victim's father took her daughter in an autorickshaw to another hospital. Priyank Kanoongo, the member from the commission stated that they have sent the notice to concerned district magistrate of the area in this regard.
