New Delhi: In an ongoing push to strengthen civic upkeep across the Capital, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has intensified large-scale cleanliness and sanitation operations in several zones, reaffirming its commitment to improving the quality of life for residents. The civic body said the extensive drives undertaken over the past few days reflect a renewed effort to tackle waste accumulation, dust pollution, and hygiene-related concerns through coordinated, round-the-clock action.

Across Central Zone, the Corporation deployed additional teams to conduct focused dust-mitigation measures, particularly around pollution hotspots Mechanical sweeping, intensified manual cleaning, high-frequency sprinkling and on-ground monitoring were carried out to curb particulate matter. Anti-smog machines and multifunction sprinklers were also pressed into service, ensuring a targeted response to winter pollution challenges.

Simultaneously, the South Zone administration undertook a difficult clearing operation at the GVP near Nadi Baba Mandir in Sangam Vihar. According to officials, the narrow interior lanes and proximity to the forest boundary made it challenging for large trucks to enter. Tipper vehicles were therefore deployed deep inside congested bylanes, lifting nearly 60 loads of accumulated waste. The civic body said the operation

required persistent on-ground coordination and additional machinery to clear long-neglected dumping pockets.

In other areas, including Rohini’s Sector 20 and stretches across Central and South Delhi, large amounts of malba and domestic waste were lifted using compactors, tippers, and loaders. The Corporation noted that teams are conducting multiple rounds of inspections to ensure long-term cleanliness and prevent re accumulation of garbage.

Senior officials said the intensified operations align with the broader goal of ensuring cleaner roads, safer neighbourhoods, and improved public health conditions across Delhi. They emphasised that both routine and special sanitation drives will continue with greater frequency as the city enters a period marked by increased pollution levels.

The MCD stated that it “remains committed to enhancing civic services and delivering visible improvements on the ground.” With sustained efforts across zones and growing interdepartmental coordination, the Corporation aims to ensure that Delhi’s residents experience cleaner surroundings and a healthier urban environment in the weeks ahead.
