Many underground water tanks under HUDA not cleaned for more than a year
GURUGRAM: Recently released data from a RTI application has revealed that more than six underground tankers under the Haryana urban Development Authority (HUDA) have not been cleaned for a year.
All the said tankers are located in the areas of Sector-51 and Sector-16 and supply water to several large parts of city.
In order to maintain standards of hygiene and health in the Millennium City, it is expected that underground tanks must be cleaned after every three months, so that clean drinking water can be supplied to the residents.
Reacting on the information revealed by the RTI application, officials highlighted that the cleaning process is underway and it will be done in March 2018.
It may be noted that this is not the first time when public agencies have been caught napping, in terms of maintaining cleanliness.
The report comes at a time when a large number of cases of diarrhoea and other forms of water-borne diseases have been reported from the city.
The prime reason cited for the large number of patients was poor quality of drinking water. In May this year, after a gap of almost 16 years, HUDA hiked the rates of supply of drinking water.
