Man held with Rs. 14L in old currency notes

The Crime Branch, Gurugram Police has seized old currency notes of more than Rs 14 lakh frommnear Bilaspur, Gurugram.

The amount was recovered from an Alto car. Cops arrested the person after receiving a tip-off of the presence of high amount in old currency notes.

Upon the capture of the driver, the police recovered Rs 14 lakh 36 thousand hidden in a polythene bag.

Upon further investigation, the it was found that there were a total of 248 old Rs 500 notes and 1,312 old Rs 1,000 notes.

The person arrested with the old currency notes has been booked under Section 102 of the IPC. The accused is been grilled by senior officials of the Gurugram Police as well as by Income Tax officers.

According to sources in Gurugram Police, the accused was going to Rewari in order to exchange the old currency.

Based on the tip-off, the Gurugram Police were able to intercept the accused on the Kundli Manesar Expressway near Bilaspur.
