A psychopathic neighbour was arrested for the brutal rape and murder a one-year-old girl in Badalpur village of Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Wednesday afternoon, police officials said.
"The accused Vijay lives in the girl's locality. He had reportedly taken her from her home to feed her. Instead, he went to a secluded place near a railway track and murdered her after raping her. He then dumped the body into a pit filled with water and covered it with a sack.
"After he reached home in the evening without the baby, the parents of the child asked her about their daughter and the accused took them to the place where he dumped the body. The accused openly accepted that he raped and murdered the child," said Anand Deo Mishra, Station House Officer, Badalpur Police Station.
"An FIR has been registered against the accused under Section 376 and 302 IPC.
He has been arrested by the police, while the medical reports of the infant are awaited. We can make a much clear opinion after that," added Mishra.The father of the deceased girl used to work in a private company as a labourer.
The parents allowed Vijay to take away their child as he used to live in the neighborhood and the parents were acquainted with him. They had no inkling that he would harm their daughter.
