New Delhi: A man died after he was beaten on suspicion of theft, inside a farmhouse in Rohini area, police said on Friday. The law enforcement agency said that they have arrested two persons and detained one juvenile in the case.
The incident occurred late Thursday night when the victim was seen entering a farm house. He was spotted by three persons, who tied him with ropes and assaulted him brutally. Police said that when the victim's health started deteriorating, one of the accused called the police, following which he was taken to a local hospital where he died. "The caller told police that they had caught one 25-year-old thief," said the police FIR.
The police are waiting for the postmortem report in the case to ascertain the reason behind the death.
Police are also verifying whether any other person was accompanying deceased while entering the farmhouse. "All these facts are being verified," police said.
Later, a police team nabbed two persons and detained one minor, however, they have not been able to identify the victim. Police identified the accused as Rahul and Vinod, who were working inside the farmhouse at the time.
The law enforcement agency had also recovered CCTV footages which they will scan to get further clues in the case. "At the farmhouse, police team found that the DVR was removed but they have recovered it," said the FIR copy in the case
The major challenge for the local police is to identify the deceased as they did not have any identification document. The police have taken his photographs and distributed it at the locality. They also suspect that the victim may be a vagabond.
The police are waiting for the postmortem report in the case to ascertain the reason behind the death. A case under section 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), 304 (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 34 (Common Intention) of the IPC has been filed at Narela police station. The initial report from the hospital revealed that the victim had sustained "multiple linear abrasions on the upper back".
