New Delhi: A 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her neighbour in South West Delhi's Vasant Kunj area. Police claimed that they have arrested the accused.
According to police on Wednesday, a PCR call was received at 11.00 am at Vasant Kunj South police station about sexual assault upon a 12 years old girl child. Victim child stated that she was alone at her home. Her neighbor Bijender Choudhary came inside her house and locked the door. Thereafter, he sexually assaulted the girl child. She cried for help and upon hearing her screams her aunt came for rescue. Accused Bijender ran away from there.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Milind Dumbere stated that the victim was sent for medical examination at Safdarjung Hospital. On the basis of the statement of girl child, a case under section 354/376 IPC and section 6 &10 POCSO Act was registered.
During investigation accused Bijender has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
According to Delhi Police data around 2,049 rape cases were reported in the year 2017 and the investigation in the rape cases revealed that 38.99 percentage of accused were friends or family friends whereas the involvement of neighbors in the rape was 19.08 percent. Relatives were also found in the involvement of rape cases as their percentage was 14.20.
