Ghaziabad: Following the death of a 32-years-old contract basis line man of electricity board in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad on Sunday, Ghaziabad police have booked three senior officials of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and a contractor over allegations of negligence in their duties made by victim's family.
According to police, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Vivek Rosh, Junior Engineer Krishna Gopal, Line Man Ompal and a private contractor Nirmal have been booked by police.
As per reports, the deceased identified as Hari Om, a native of Badaun district worked on contractual basis at Lajpat Nagar electricity sub Station in Sahibabad from past 9 years.
Victim's brother Shiv Kumar, in his complaint said that on 28th April, Hari Om was made to climb the electricity pole without being provided with safety equipments while the officials also didn't ensure that the electricity was shut down. "Hari Om was made to climb the electricity pole which connected the wires carrying 33 KV line to detect a fault. He was not provided with any safety equipment while the officials didn't checked the live wires which were carrying current at the time of incident. When Hari Om touched the live wire, a blast occurred and he got stuck with the wires."
"The electricity was then shut down and Hari Om was taken to Ambey hospital by other staffers where he was declared brought dead" alleged Shiv Kumar.
Kumar also alleged that his brother Hari Om had earlier informed his family that the SDO, JE and other two accused deliberately push him to leap the electricity polls and he suspected a life threat from them.
"My brother feared a life threat from all these four persons forcefully tried to push him to climb the electricity poles while any casualty could have happened in past too. Also these four accused persons fled away the spot after incident."
"We suspect that they have deliberately tried to kill my brother and we want strict actions to be taken against them," Kumar further mentioned in his complaint
Meanwhile, Jitendra Kumar Singh, Station House officer (SHO) of Sahibabad police station said that an FIR has been registered while further investigations are underway.
"Based on complaint received, an FIR against all the four persons including three officials of UPPCL and a private contractor has been registered under relevant sections on IPC," said Singh.
