Ghaziabad: Following a laxity in enforcing safety guidelines, a 17-year-old male student of a renowned private school of Ghaziabad was left with one of the fingers of his right hand severed after his hand got stuck into an iron channel inside school premises on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place at around 8.30 am when the victim, a student of class 12th of Delhi Public School in Raj Nagar area of Ghaziabad, was on the way to his class. The boy was immediately rushed to Yashoda Hospital in a serious condition.
According to victim's family members, they received a call from the hospital at around 9 am that their son has been brought to the hospital in serious condition. As they reached the hospital, they found that he accidentally got his finger chopped off in an iron channel within the school premises.
"Prima facie investigations revealed that the boy was injured accidentally. We received no complaint in the matter as the victim's family also agreed that it was a case of accident. However, an investigation into the case has been initiated to find out whether the school has flouted the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court," said Atish Kimar Singh, Circle officer-II, Ghaziabad.
As the news spread, the family members and media persons rushed to the hospital where the hospital staffers misbehaved with a scribe as he tried to enter the hospital premises.
