New Delhi: Delhi Labour minister Raaj Kumar Anand convened a crucial board meeting of the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (DBOCWWB) to address the backlog of applications for financial assistance aimed at supporting the education of construction workers’ children.

The meeting focused on resolving the pendency of these applications, which had been held up due to verification challenges.

The DBOCWWB provides financial assistance to the children of registered construction workers, promoting their safety, health, and welfare. Over the past few years, a substantial number of applications had been pending due to issues related to verification.

Anand instructed the development of revised and worker-friendly Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to expedite the disbursement of financial aid. The objective is to ensure that financial assistance reaches the eligible children without delay.

Anand emphasised the importance of making financial assistance accessible and hassle-free for the children of labour workers. The ministry intends to raise awareness about Delhi government schemes by distributing printed materials at construction sites and is also working on creating a user-friendly app for the convenience of construction workers. “The verification process should be streamlined to facilitate easy application submissions with all necessary documents. Regular review meetings will be held to monitor the status of pending cases,” stated the minister.
