L-G Saxena visits Noida Int’l Airport site, praises swift development work

Greater Noida: Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Vinai Kumar Saxena visited the Noida Airport site in Jewar on Monday to assess its advancement and comprehend the extensive land acquisition process for the airport and other development projects in the region. He commended the Uttar Pradesh government for the swift development of the airport within a brief timeframe.

The L-G, who also chairs the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), reached the site at 11:45 am with his delegation, including Secretary Surendra Singh and other officials. Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh and local authorities welcomed him. Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Christoph Schnellmann provided construction updates, whilst Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) nodal officer Shailendra Bhatia detailed various site connectivity schemes.

The inspection centred on the smooth land acquisition process, with officials elaborating on the steps taken under the Land Acquisition Act to facilitate seamless transactions.

They outlined the advantages offered to farmers and the strategy of obtaining their agreement before acquisition.

“During the visit, the L-G also toured the Medical Device Park in Sector 28 and was briefed on other key projects, including the proposed International Film City, Raya Heritage City, New Agra Urban Center, Apparel Park, Toy Park, and Semiconductor Park. Yamuna Authority officials delivered presentations on these developments,” said Bhatia.

The L-G’s secretary characterised the visit as an opportunity to learn about successful practices in land acquisition and greenfield airport development.

He stressed the significance of these insights for NCR urban development, considering the L-G’s position as DDA chairman. Officials emphasised that collaboration between NCR governmental organisations is essential for successful urban planning, and such visits enhance decision-making processes.
