NEW DELHI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal Friday listed the achievements of the AAP government in Delhi and said its actions have added impetus to the development process in the national capital.
Delivering his speech at the beginning of the Delhi Assembly's Budget Session, Baijal also spoke about the recently-inaugurated Signature Bridge which, he claimed, is the first asymmetrical cable-styled bridge in the country.
Baijal said the city has achieved significant economic progress and contributed 4.14 per cent in the GDP of the nation during 2018-19.
The lieutenant governor said the per capita income of Delhi in 2018-19 is estimated at Rs 3,65,529 as compared to Rs 3,28,985 in 2017-18, indicating a growth of 11.11 per cent. "In 2018-19, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is estimated to be Rs 7,79,652 crore, registering a growth of 12.98 per cent," Baijal said.
"While the economy of the state has flourished, it is imperative that all sections of the population become beneficiaries of this growth. The growth has to be inclusive to uplift the conditions of the weaker sections of the population," he said.
Speaking about the education sector, he said a number of initiatives have been taken by the government to improve the sector.
"Pre-primary and primary classes have been given a big boost with the introduction of nursery classes in 149 Sarvodaya Vidyalayas, this has resulted in 301 schools with nursery classes," L-G asserted.
"To strengthen the school infrastructure, construction of 31 new school buildings have been started. The government has approved construction of 12,700 additional class rooms in existing schools for increased access to education and to achieve the ideal pupil-teacher ratio," said Baijal.
"While the economy of the state has flourished, it is imperative that all sections of the population become beneficiary of this growth.The growth has to be inclusive to uplift the conditions of the weaker

Baijal said.
Speaking on health care, he said the government is committed to provide preventive, promotive and curative
health care services to the citizens of Delhi. Baijal said that there are 36 Multispeciality Hospitals including 6 Super Speciality Hospitals. In addition to this, 180 Allopathic Dispensaries, 187 Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics and 25
Polyclinics are providing healthcare services to the citizens of Delhi. "All essential drugs are being provided free medicines as well as free lab diagnostic and free radiological tests," said Baijal.
