NEW DELHI: Special cell of Delhi Police has arrested the kingpin of drug cartel identified as Tasleem Qureshi. Earlier cops have seized 32 kilograms of heroin worth approximately Rs 128 crore from two of his associates.
Two men named Sikandar and Umar, both residents of Manipur, were arrested in March.
A duster car was used for the transportation of the heroin was also seized.
The interrogation of Mohd. Umar and Mohd. Sikander confirmed that the recovered heroin was delivered to them by a supplier at Guwahati (Assam) at the behest of a man named Mamu of Bareilly (UP) and the same was to be delivered to some clients of Mamu in Delhi.
For identification and apprehension of Kingpin Mamu and his contact in Delhi, 7 days' P/C remand of both the arrested accused persons was obtained.
During the remand, a dedicated team camped near Bareilly, UP for making all possible efforts to apprehend the kingpin Mamu and to further establish the identity of his source of supply at Manipur, but he could not be apprehended.
His identity was established as Tasleem Qureshi alias Mamu.
Non-Bailable warrants against him was also issued by the Hon'ble Court since he was untraceable despite all possible efforts.
In view of gravity, a reward of Rs. One lakh was also declared for the arrest of Tasleem Qureshi alias Mamu by Delhi Police.
Mamu was arrested on 21 April from Moradabad.
