New Delhi: The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) will soon be inspecting the guest houses, who are having the fire no objection certificate (NOC) in the city, to check whether they are following fire safety norms. The checking is the fallout of hotel Arpit Palace fire in which 17 persons were killed in Karol Bagh.
According to Delhi Fire Services data, as many as 1,540 hotels cum guest houses in Delhi have a fire no objection certificate (NOC) which will be checked. "Our teams will be carrying out inspections on the guest houses to ascertain whether they are following fire safety norms," said Chief Fire Officer (DFS) Atul Garg.
Checking reveals negligence
The DFS recently carried out 145 inspections in Karol Bagh area and suspended 105 NOC. The inspection was started after the hotel inferno.
Atul Garg stated that during the inspection, they found that in some hotels, the water tanker which meant for extinguishing the fire in the hotel was used for commercial purposes.
"No proper signage maintained and also the basement were being used in an improper manner," said Garg.
Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed that they have arrested the licensee of the hotel Arpit Palace in Karol Bagh where 17 persons killed inside the fire on February 12.
A few days ago his brother Rakesh Goel, owner of Arpit Palace Hotel was nabbed by Crime Branch.
