New Delhi: In a statement, JNU administration has clarified that attendance rules are mandatory according to the UGC notifications, guidelines as well as the statutory provisions of the JNU Statute and alleged that schools have not provided the complete information on the number of vacancies in the respective centers.
The administration further clarified that the reservation policy, as per the Constitution of India and related rules framed by the Parliament, are followed in the admission as well as recruitment.
Vacant seats could not be filled during previous years because several schools did not provide complete information on the number of vacancies available in their respective centers, despite repeated reminders from the administration.
Meanwhile, the JNU administration has expressed concerns over reported sexual harassment cases in JNU campus and pointed out that it has zero tolerance for any form of sexual harassment and that an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) exists to take up issues related to sexual harassment.
JNU statement released on Tuesday further said that students are advised to refer all the matters related to sexual harassment to the ICC so that official procedures as per the University rules and regulation are followed and necessary action are taken on the basis of the recommendation of the relevant body.
