IGIA to charge Rs 150 for entry of commercial vehicles at T1

Update: 2017-03-23 18:48 GMT
In an aim to decongest the area, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) stated that it will impose an entry fee of Rs 150 for commercial vehicles entering the arrival forecourt area of the Terminal 1 (T1 C) of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.

Announcing its decision on Wednesday, DIAL highlighted that the decision was taken in order to discourage unauthorised parking at forecourt area and allow smooth movement of traffic.

DIAL further mentioned that the issue of severe congestion at the arrival area of Terminal 1 due to unauthorised parking was becoming a major source of inconvenience for the customers.

A DIAL Spokesperson, said, "There have been growing incidents of unauthorized parking at the Arrival area of Terminal 1 and long waiting time by commercial vehicles. Touting has also increased in the passenger area, as a result. This is a cause of serious inconvenience to passengers as well as an issue for the law and order situation. Airport has sufficient and convenient parking facility and we encourage drivers to use it."

"DIAL has proposed to regulate and decongest the forecourt area to prevent unauthorised parking for long periods which is causing inconvenience to passengers and users at large. The said charge is not a parking charge but deterrence for unauthorized parking. Such practice is prevalent in many airports across India and globally," he added.
