Gurugram: Haryana's Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava visited Gurugram on Saturday and reviewed the security situation in the city in run-up to upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He spoke to various senior officials including the Gurugram police commissioner Muhammad Akil on the situation.
At a time when there are efforts to increase the voting percentage in the city, he spoke to various officials on how the voters can be made secure so that they can turn out in large numbers and exercise their democratic right. Police have constituted a surveillance team of more than 3,100 police personnel to ensure fair and peaceful Lok Sabha elections in the district.
Additionally, paramilitary forces and home guards have been deployed to maintain law and order in the city on polling day, May 12.
Gurugram Police commissioner Muhammad Akil said that 1,700 police personnel and 1,155 home guards have been deployed to ensure security in 492 sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths in the city.
