Gurugram: Eager to wrest one of its strongest bastion the Indian National Congress held a grand Parivartan Yatra in Gurugram on Tuesday. Not only was the Yatra undertaken to blow the bugle for the impending general elections in the district where an estimated 21 lakh voters will participate but also a show of unity of the top leadership of the party.
With rumours circulating that all is not well in the top leadership of the state Congress, all the major leaders made sure that they were part of this election campaign. The top leaders that were present were Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Deepender Hooda, Kuldeep Sharma and Kiran Chaudhury.
"In its four years of governance, the state has taken care of any strata of society. They may call us corrupt but the voters know that in reality, they themselves are dishonest," said Bhupinder Singh Hooda the former Chief Minister of Haryana
"The party is united in its objective of removing the BJP government. The party has not done anything for the people of the state and the district in these four years and now they are deliberately trying to spread rumours among divisions in our party. An appropriate reply will be given to them by the voters," said Ashok Tanwar Harayan Pradesh.
As the Parivartan Yatra was undertaken in the busy routes of Gurugram the commuters also had to face the problem of traffic jams. The problem was greatly faced in areas of Delhi-Jaipur highway and Sohna road.
For long Congress has the strength of having tall leaders in its fold. Though that strength has weakened a bit with Rao Inderjit Singh shifting to BJP, it still has other significant leaders like Captain Ajay Yadav who has won several elections from the Ahirwal belt. The significance of the Gurugram for the grand old party of India can be gauged from the fact that in the past Maulana Abul Kalam Azad has contested from the South Haryana region.
