Gurugram: On the pretext of criminal activities again reviving in pubs and bars, the district police have conducted raids on MG Road. Headed by senior police official ACP Karan Goel, the law enforcement officials also conducted raids at MGF Mall and Sahara Mall on MG Road and found many flouting norms openly.
Following the raids by four special teams, the Gurugram police have recommended to senior officials, these pubs were found guilty of not maintaining records of patrons or checking their ID cards. Some suspicious people, including women, were detained and their credentials are being checked.
"There have been repeated complaints of pubs playing host to prostitution rackets which have now converted to robbery gangs. We conducted raids and found that in many pubs, the records of liquor and patrons were not being maintained. It is mandatory to check and record the ID proof of every entrant but in many cases, it was not being done," said ACP Karan Goel.
"Women were being used to get people to access to clubs. Many suspicious people were found there. We have written to the Excise Department to act. We will take stern action," he further added.
Sources claimed that while many women were found inside and outside these clubs helping men gain stag entries. They were also not carrying any ID cards. Some underage patrons too with were reportedly caught drinking.
During the reign of KK Rao as Police commissioner various raids were conducted at the pubs and bars and there were six foreigners that were arrested for indulging in the criminal activities. These criminal activities is in addition to regular crimes like molestations and brawls that continue to be reported.
To deal with the crimes like prostitution and sex racket that is prevalent in various nightclubs of Gurugram, the top cop has directed the pubs and bars for restricted entry of women. It ultimately took the residents to descend on the streets forcing the public authorities to close the pubs and bars. Ultimately they were opened after its owners were able to get a stay order from the court.
"There are certain miscreants everywhere and so is the case with the pubs and bars of Gurugram. There is no denying the fact that these nightclubs have contributed a great deal in city's economy and we will make sure that these unfortunate incidents do not impact the entire nightlife of the city," said a senior police official from Gurugram police.
"We are in constant touch with with the pub owners and requesting them to comply with the law so that effective law and order situation is maintained," he added.
